The origins of The Buttress Pillow

I’m Jai, founder and owner of The Buttress Pillow.

Nothing mattered but the butt

When I was young I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.

Nothing really mattered to me but being close to the butt I love.

The spark

As I was laying on her butt, content, at peace and happy, I noticed that a butt could make the perfect pillow.

With a little bit of clever engineering, maybe I could capture at least a little bit of this feeling and put it into a pillow people could be close to every night.

The Buttress Pillow — ergonomic butt-shaped design inspired by real comfort

No direction, no money — just work

I really had no direction in my life and no money, so instead of brushing it off as a dumb idea in the morning, I got to work.

I made the very first prototype modeled after her amazing booty.

I launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2018 to fund our first batch.

I was very nervous that maybe I was just weird. Maybe people just didn’t love amazing butts as much as I do.

Within 2 days our campaign reached its funding goal and went on to raise over $50,000.

That’s when I knew I was not alone.

From novelty to the real deal

It might have started as a novelty. I still remember being unsatisfied with the first pillows.

But 2 more Kickstarters for 2 more models, 8 years of fine tuning the material, adjusting the softness and designs later, we are proud to say that our pillows are the real deal.

More than 30,000 people all over the world chose to sleep on a butt sending us thousands of 5-star reviews for an “expensive” butt shaped pillow.
